The Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilizations is the only national State run museum in the region. "This project creates a dialogue between the earth, the sea, the sky and the wind," said Rudy Ricciotti. It is a highly refined and discreet project overlooking Fort Saint-Jean and the Old Port. The construction is deliberately bare and easy to look at; simple, fair, necessary, a minimum of materials, glass and concrete. It is denuded, without cladding or decoration, with fishing nets covering the south and west facing walls, as well as part of its roof overhangs, which are fixed in the surrounding landscape.
