Go West

In the late 1950s in the United States, against the backdrop of anti-segregation and the Vietnam War, a protest movement reversed the country’s image among European intellectuals. Alternative architectures and technologies began to flower just about everywhere and especially on the East Coast, on the West Coast, in California. Many young Europeans went there on their journey of initiation and came back with new ideas, convinced that those social solutions and techniques heralded a different future.
