Writing in Miami

In this funny, original, and highly personal account, Dany Laferrière tells of his adventures in the United States. In the early 1980s, the Port-au-Prince native left Montreal and moved to Miami: "I undertook an American project: to write the Great American Novel." In these pages, the writer chronicles his daily life with his wife and three daughters during those years in an unfamiliar country, in a city of which he writes, "I don’t like Miami, and that’s why I see it as the ideal place to write."
