The author left Iran a long time ago. He cannot understand why young people would walk on mines to make a path and die without even the consolation of accomplishing a heroic deed. In the face of such carnage, he doesn’t know whether being an author is justifiable in itself, therefore, he lets the protagonists do the talking, collects their words and lets them express themselves as an ultimate refuge. Unforgettable characters in a novel that is close to the bone.
