Town and Workshop

This book is based on a survey conducted over five years of the daily lives of unionized workers at a French National Railways (SNCF) railyard, in an industrial town of 3,000 inhabitants. Giving voice to people often wrongly associated only with farming and generally depicted by the national media as far-right voters, it shows that workers are the leading social group in French campaigns and tries to answer the question: how do you get involved when everyone’s pushing for deunionization?
