A German childhood

When she was small, she loved Adolf Hitler, because they were born in the same week (but not the same year!) and the whole town was decorated for the occasion. The author recounts her childhood, her father's departure to fight in the war, his leave and fleeing from the Russians. Then, life in the ruins, hunger and the return of her father, which became significant. Still a Nazi? Probably! As an adult, she fled to France to purify herself, to forget and to reinvent herself.
