10 walks around Algiers

For the last ten years, Algiers has been encouraging tourism and is attracting travellers who wish to rediscover a town on which they have little recent information. How can one really get to know this great Mediterranean capital city? What should one visit first and how does one get around? Two young writers, one of whom lives in Algiers, have come up with ten walks that give a comp temporary vision of the city whilst also basing their itineraries on its ritual past and cultural heritage. Each walk, accompanied by a detailed plan, is illustrated both by recent photographs and pictures from the archives. Finally a practical section gives all the essential addresses: restaurants, hotels, museums… as well as some surprising sites to help one understand and revive this unique country and its inhabitants.
