Between 2008 and 2013, Grégoire Eloy made several trips to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan in order to share the daily life of the fishermen on the Aral Sea, which has lost 90% of its water volume since the 1960s. This ecological disaster is the result of the irrigation plan implemented during the Soviet era to develop intensive cotton farming. In 2005, the completion of the Kok-Aral Dam brought the return of water and fish to the northern part of the sea. But the entire southern part is doomed to disappear.
