Quartier réservé

The Quartier Réservé was a hub of the Marseilles underworld in the 1920s. A father, a successful pimp in the Quartier Réservé, writes to his son what he thinks is his last letter. He wants his son to take over the management of his brother, "Les Colchides." But the son doesn't want any of it: he is an intellectual who is only into poetry, books, and amazing personalities like the Black American boxer "Head of Gold" or Salammbo the transvestite singer traumatized by the war. Jeanne, a whimsical prostitute recruited by the father, comes to trouble the waters.
