Monumentalbum

For two decades, museums have been reaching out beyond their physical walls. Monumentalbum, a project by the artist Joan Fontcuberta, is one such initiative. In Chalon-sur-Saône, he invited the residents of one district to participate in a massive photo collecting project., which were then digitised and assembled to make large photomosaics displayed around the neighbourhood. This book analyses this exciting participative experience.
