If a non-specialist were asked to cite a modern French architect, the answer would undoubtedly be Le Corbusier. However, the latter was of Swiss origin and was not an architect – he did not have any qualifications. This leaves us with modernity: and that’s indeed where his success lies. It comes particularly from his capacity of organising and promoting his public image at the expense of the quality of his constructed work which is disastrous. Founded on the analysis of his production work (concrete or theoretical), this book shows the creator’s imposture, the totalitarian character of his projects and the wretchedness of space he caused when he was alive and until today.
