Between 1974 and 1994, when the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie in Arles were in full swing, Pierre-Jean Amar rubbed shoulders with and photographed the world’s major photographers. Through debates, training courses, evenings at the Théâtre Antique, receptions, private viewings… the (then small) world of photography came together, talked, loved, invented and innovated,… In these 224 photographs, the whole atmosphere of these roaring years is brought back to the time when the Rencontres d'Arles was still called RIP. The book is completed by 42 accounts of former protagonists of these good old days: Bertrand Eveno, Christian Caujolle, Anne Clergue, Marie-José Justamond, Jean-Marc Lacabe, Guy Le Querrec, Jean-Claude Gautrand, Thierry Girard, Claude Hudelot, Gilles Mora, Bernard Plossu and Fanny Sudre.
