The author writes three imaginary accounts of the life of Django Reinhardt as if he had survived his brain haemorrhage. He continues his jazz career and triumphs in a concert where he plays a duet with Thelonious Monk ; henceforth as a composer of Electro-acoustic music, he lives at the top of a Manhattan skyscraper ; he abandons jazz and the gypsies in order to wander alone through the streets of Paris. The story which completes the book evoques the posterity of the artist : whilst in the three works of fiction Django dies, this one illustrates how he could have become immortal.
