Concrete, the history of a building material

Was armored concrete discovered or invented ? In other words, what do we know of this technique before it became a building material ? And even before being “armored”, what did this formless, thick goop, used for solidifying massive walls and foundations, mean to constructers and architects ? Today, the person in the street shows disdain for concrete, while architects hold it in esteem. This divergence of opinions must not hide the complex and deep process anchored in the history that led to its fantastic development, turning it into the most widely used building material throughout the world within the past fifty years.
