Transhumance of Dreams

When Lahcen arrives in Alès, in the Cévennes region, he has left behind his Moroccan childhood. He must learn everything anew in a hurry, while keeping the word he gave to his grandfather on the day of his departure. Shedding light on the society of the 1960s and 70s and the similarities between the two mountain-dwelling peoples and their ways of life, the novel tells the story of a child's quest for identity even as the Mediterranean crossing had extinguished his dreams.
