Social functions of the Blues

The blues assume various levels of appreciation. There will no doubt be evidence of protest or incitement to revolt. However the black man of the blues is virtually resigned to his lot. The genre only seems to refer to concerns linked to everyday life. In order to get beyond these impressions, hundreds of pieces have been transcribed and studied. Beyond the blues, this work aims to rehabilitate all the genres resulting from poetry or oral literature, into a world where the oral tradition has always been of secondary importance compared with the written word.
