These collected texts, some of which have already been published (particularly in the French monthly magazines La Décroissance and/or Le Sarkophage), whilst others are totally new or no longer in circulation – constitutes several things at once : an analysis of current political affairs between Marxism and critical sociology, a criticism of the media as tools of propaganda, and a socio-analysis of the middle classes and their function in the reproduction of the social order. According to the author, the roots of this approach can be traced back to a particular moment during the war in Algeria when he was a young student of philosophy and met Pierre Bourdieu, then took part in his first on-site survey.

Sociologist, Alain Accardo is the author of several works including Introduction à une sociologie critique (Agone, 2006), Journalistes précaires, journalistes au quotidien (Agone, 2007) et Le Petit-bourgeois Gentilhomme (2009).
