Buddhism

While Buddhism has become familiar to the general public in Europe, its elaboration as a scholarly discipline and its historiography are largely unknown, if not totally unknown.
Yet the fascination it exerts today cannot be explained without a thorough analysis of the foundations of Buddhism - an analysis which shows that it was French, English, German, Russian and Dutch researchers who, fascinated by the ageless old texts of India, gradually elaborated the "novel of Buddha".
