Baya: Women in Their Gardens

Featuring over 250 works, the book surveys Baya's multifaceted career. It sheds light on this singular figure in twentieth-century Mediterranean art and her work, which includes painting, drawing, and ceramics, as well as research of extraordinary quality. The book draws on a rich body of archives, such as unpublished letters, handwritten documents, and press articles, preserved at the National Overseas Archives in Aix-en-Provence, which Anissa Bouayed, historian and curator of the accompanying exhibition, consulted in 2017.
