Alexandria : Ottoman Architecture

The Ottoman quarter of Alexandria developed from the 16th century and attracted a heteroclite and multicultural population who commissioned the construction of buildings which were significantly changed during the 19th century. Following a great deal of field work, the authors, architects by training, devoted themselves to drawing up an inventory of the civil and domestic buildings of the Ottoman period. Numerous photographs, plans and drawings allow the original state of the buildings to be seen.
