For bread alone

This is an adaptation of the famous novel which narrates Mohamed Choukri's childhood, marked by poverty, in Morocco under the French protectorate. Famine, the escape of his violent father, nights under the stars in Tangier's rough areas, wine, dope, sex and prison…At the age of 21, Choukri learnt to read and write and here reveals his autobiographical story. This is a tale of a revenge on destiny which unveils another story about the country, one of poverty and exclusion.
