For a Semiology of the Letter

How should different texts be treated ? The new techniques, when correctly used, produce remarkably aesthetic pages for readers. Poorly used however, they can turn reading pages into catalogues of countless characters, which, although varied are particularly inappropriate for manipulation by today's graphic artists who are more visual artists than they are true semiologists.
