Japanese architecture has its roots in the study of culture and its rituals, the importance of nature, and the rarity of spaces suitable for urban regeneration which leads to density and promiscuity. Using the example of 20 small Japanese town houses, this work suggests a set of solutions and ideas to understand our way of living. Inspired by the traditional Machiya, these contemporary urban buildings use ancestral Japanese ideas in order to offer living spaces in accord with the needs of the inhabitants, privacy and opening out to the city.
